An Iowa City Karaoke company has announced that its DJ/owner has recently tested positive for Coronavirus COVID 19.

In a Facebook post published on Monday, March 16, the company said the Star Entertainment owner has been tested and confirmed to carry the COVID 19 virus.

The Karaoke company has posted this information:

On Friday, March 13th, just before midnight Don began having a severe headache and a mild cough. Saturday, March 14th, Don had a severe headache, was unable to get out of bed without feeling overly weak and fatigued, unable to speak full sentences without having to struggle for extra breath, and in general was not very responsive.

We consulted with a UIHC nurse on the phone and a subsequent video conference with a physician at the University of Iowa according to the current policy.  At the end of the video chat it was recommended that Don be seen in the ER of the UIHC.

While in the ER, Don was tested for the flu, various respiratory illnesses, and the Coronavirus.  His symptoms were severe enough he was admitted into isolation at the hospital.  The flu and respiratory illness tests came back negative that same evening. On Sunday, March 15th, around 5pm Coronavirus test results were received as a positive result.

The Star Entertainment calendar shows that Don recently hosted events at Longbranch Restaurant in Cedar Rapids on Friday, March 6 and Friday, March 13.

If you were in attendance at either of those functions, Linn County Public Health is asking you to self-quarantine for 14 days from the date you were there.

On Monday the U.S. asked citizens to observe a 14 day lockdown to help avoid the spread of this disease.
