Eastern Iowa Girl Scouts Kick Off Season With New Cookie

We told you last year that a tasty new cookie was added to the Girl Scouts lineup. Well, now it's finally time for us to enjoy it!

When Does the 2022 Girl Scout Cookie Season Start?

The Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois kick off their 2022 season this Friday, January 7. Yay! What's also exciting is that there's a delicious new cookie to try.

What Kinds of Girl Scout Cookies are available in 2022 and How Much Are They?

The classic favorites will still be available such as Thin Mints, Samoas, and Tagalongs for $5 a package. Gluten-free Toffee-tastics are $6 per package. There will also be a new one. The scouts are now selling Adventurefuls, which are described as "an indulgent brownie-inspired cookie with caramel-flavored crème and a hint of sea salt."

According to a press release from the girl scouts, the cookie was inspired by the "amazing adventures" that girl scouts go on.

Where Does the Money From Girl Scout Cookies Go?

The release states that portions of every cookie purchase go to fuel adventures for girl scouts such as "Troop 5875 from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, venturing to the Boundary Waters for a canoeing adventure" and "Kaelee Wolf and Alivia Isaacson from Bettendorf, Iowa, traveling to Colorado on a backpacking journey through the mountains." The program also helps girls learn entrepreneurial and business skills by providing opportunities to sell these yummy treats in different ways both online and offline.

How Can I Get Girl Scout Cookies in 2022?

The Girl Scouts will start taking cookie orders online and in person on January 7, 2022. The orders will arrive starting February 18, 2022, and Cookie Booths will begin again. If you know a Girl Scout, just ask her how she's selling cookies and go from there. Otherwise, just go to GirlScoutsToday.org to select a nearby troop that you can order cookies from online. Enjoy!
