Iowa Governor Terry Branstad is one step closer to becoming the next U.S. Ambassador to China. Branstad appeared before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee yesterday in Washington D.C.

Branstad faced a series of tough questions on a variety of issues including North Korea, Chinese relations, and trade issues. Branstad says he wants to work closely with the administration and others to handle the rising tensions in North Korea.

The governor's hearing lasted just over two hours. The general consensus was praise for Branstad. Most think that his experience dealing with the Chinese on issues of trade will only help in that region of the world.
