According to a new study, Iowans have it a whole lot better on the roads than folks in other states!

The website WalletHub recently put together a list titled, "2019’s Best & Worst States to Drive in." To determine their list, they used 30 different "indicators of a positive commute." Those indicators include things like car theft rates, percentages of rush hour traffic congestion, average gas prices, and auto maintenance costs.

The study revealed that Iowa is one of the best states for drivers, coming in at number four on the list. We ranked 1st in the overall category of "cost of ownership and maintenance," 10th for "traffic and infrastructure," 22nd for "access to vehicles and maintenance," and 44th for "safety." Iowa also came in 4th in the entire country for the lowest percentage of rush hour traffic congestion, although I know it doesn't feel that way sometimes!

Basically, we could have it worse. A LOT worse! Oregon, Illinois, and Indiana may have beat us, but here are the five worst states for drivers:

  1. Hawaii
  2. Alaska
  3. Washington
  4. California
  5. New Hampshire

Check out the rest of the rankings HERE. Oh, and stay safe out on the roads today. Thanks for the snow, Mother Nature!
