Iowa Parents Charged in Death of 16-Year-Old Daughter

A central Iowa teenager died in October and now her parents are both facing charges associated with her death.

16-year-old Natalie Finn died October 24, after suffering cardiac arrest in her West Des Moines home.

At the time, next-door neighbor Tiana Curtis told the Des Moines Register that Natalie had asked neighbors on multiple occasions for clothes, food, and money. She described the kids living in the home as a "neighborhood-wide concern." Curtis thought there were four children living at the home, prior to Finn's death.

Tiana said that DHS had been called by neighbors before Natalie's passing. Spokeswoman Amy McCoy of the Iowa Department of Human Services said her department was involved in the investigation after Finn's death but wouldn't comment on previous involvement.

WHO reports that Natalie's parents Nicole Marie Finn and Joseph Michael Finn II were both arrested Thursday morning and face a plethora of charges, some of which are related to other children living in the home.

Nicole is charged with three counts of first-degree kidnapping, three counts of child endangerment causing serious injury, three counts of neglect of a dependent person, and first-degree murder.

The charges against Joseph include three counts of first-degree kidnapping, three counts of child endangerment causing serious injury, and three counts of neglect of a dependent person.

Both Nicole and Joseph are being held at the Polk County Jail. Nicole's cash bond is $2.13 million, while Joseph's is $1.53 million, according to Polk County.
