As shared by the Meskwaki Nation Police Department (that is located in Tama, Iowa) on Facebook, what appears to be a homemade gun was recovered from a felon on Monday, April 18.

The statement started off with this:

Dear Public and Fellow Law Enforcement Agencies,

We want to inform you of a public safety and law enforcement matter that came to our attention today. The possessor of this firearm was a felon prohibited from possessing firearms and was previously convicted for possessing firearms. He possessed meth and was previously convicted for distributing cocaine.

There wasn't much other information about the subject, how the gun was made, or who the individual possessing the contraption was.

The statement added this:

We will not be answering any questions about the circumstances of this firearms seizure or the suspect at this time.

All-in-all, the homemade gun appears to meaure about a foot long, have some sort of spring firing mechanism, a quarter attached to the firing pin and engraved into the wood handle, and has a flashlight wrapped around the barrel with a piece of metal. Need I mind you, if you believe my assessment of said gun is inaccurate, I don't know squat about guns or usage of guns.

ANYWAY.

Let's take a look at the photos of this thing:

The officers of the Meskwaki Nation Police Department have dubbed the creation the "Smith and Meth-Son."

The post added a tag-on that used the opportunity to advertise to potential future officers, saying

The Meskwaki Nation Police Department not only serves the proud Meskwaki Community, but also a casino and highway that brings visitors from all over and offers opportunities for very interesting encounters.
