Iowa Team Headed to Little League World Series
The Hawkeye State has made magic at the Little League level for the second time in three years, as an Iowa team prepares for a trip to Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
The Grandview Little League from Des Moines defeated Fargo, North Dakota 7-4 Saturday to advance to the Little League World Series. According to Bleacher Report, Grandview led 7-0 after five innings. Fargo scored four runs in the sixth but did not have an extra-base hit during the game.
Grandview will play a team from Staten Island, New York in the first round. It will be played at the Little League World Series Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m., Iowa time. The game will be televised by ESPN.
A team from Johnston, Iowa made it to the Little League World Series in 2016. They won a pair of games during that season's double-elimination tournament. The last team from eastern Iowa to make it to Williamsport was Davenport Northwestern in 2005.
