[PHOTO] Dubuque or DC? Iowa Has Its Very Own White House

We're all familiar with that big white house that sits at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington D.C. If you're looking to make a trip to this historic home and don't feel like footin' the travel costs then you can visit a similar looking building in Dubuque.

This one's just a bit smaller though.

I went for my very first visit to Dubuque over the weekend. As an East Coast native, the entire area just seemed very similar to some towns and cities in Upstate New York or rural Pennsylvania.

The people I had decided to make the day trip out to Dubuque decided to do some exploring around the area before we left. As we drove around the residential area, I kept pointing out all of the homes that we saw.

Not only were many of these houses that we passed by absolutely beautiful but they were some of the most unique homes I've seen in my entire life.

Not too far from the Fenelon Place Elevator is a home that looks like it belongs in our nation's capital.

This White House home was designed to look like the President's mansion several decades ago. According to a KCRG story from several years ago, Ronald McDonald built his home on this street in Dubuque back in 1969.

Two decades later he decided to expand the home to make it look like the White House.

McDonald's White House replica is to scale of the south wing. With his columns measuring at 28 feet and the real one at 14 feet.

He was also in a band called Ronnie McDonald and the M & M's that toured the country.

There is no word of whether or not McDonald still owns the home or not. The last time he spoke with press was in 2016 right around the time of the election.
