Iowa Woman’s Skeleton Crew Bringing Attention To Street Repair Need [PHOTOS]

Lisa Koziczkowski has watched vehicles go bumping through a stretch of a street by her home for the last few months. When repairs by the city continued to not get done, she decided to put some popular community members to work to draw attention to the problem.

Kozickowski lives on East Iowa Avenue in Indianola. A water main break back in December was repaired, but the street itself was only filled with dirt. That's where the problems began on what Koziczkowski calls a major road in the city of 16,000.

Lisa's calls to the city have had her passed from one person to another and the road is still a mess. The Des Moines Register reports that Kozickowski believes the hold-up is a dispute between the city and Indianola Municipal Utilities.

Growing frustrated, Lisa got an idea to bring more focus to the issue, in an effort to get it fixed sooner, rather than later. She would put her skeleton crew on the case. Her family often puts the group of skeletons in the front yard of their home for different holidays throughout the year, but this time they had a greater purpose than just entertaining passerby's.

She told the Des Moines Register,

If I am going to blow something up, I am going to use humor and make it light. This isn't going to ruin someone's life. It is an inconvenience and it should be taken care of.

The skeletons have their own Facebook page, The Adventures of Skeleton Jim & Crew, that follows their escapades. Lisa hopes their "street work" will be rewarding quickly. Make no bones about it.
