Happy National Best Friends Day!

Over the course of the last 10 years or so, I've really started to understand the importance of having good friends. Even more importantly, I've learned more about how to be a good friend. As you get older and busier, sometimes it can be a little tricky to maintain friendships (especially when you live eight hours away), but really good friends are hard to come by, so you have to hold onto them!

I've been living in Iowa for almost seven years now, and over the course of that seven years, friends have come and gone. But, I have four wonderful best friends that have stuck with me through everything, even though two of them live far away.

Brooke, my oldest BFF, I met my freshman year in high school. We had a small group of close friends that we spent all our time with those four years, but my friendship with Brooke continued long after we graduated. I stood up in her wedding back in 2019, and just last year I got to watch her become a mom to a beautiful baby boy. We don't talk all the time, but when we do, it's like no time has passed. I'm so grateful to have her in my life.

I didn't meet my best friend Stephanie until college. I got a second job working at Forever 21 at one point, and she was my manager. It's funny, because neither of us remember how we became friends. We just... were. Even after that four years we worked together, our friendship continued. I watched her get engaged, I sang at her wedding, and I now have two adorable, wild little boys that call me their aunt. I'm so lucky!

My other two BFFs I met right here in Iowa! I was introduced to Beth shortly after starting at the radio station, and she's been my Ann Perkins/Monica Geller ever since. We traveled to Nashville, Denver, Minneapolis, St. Louis, and Chicago together, and there's honestly nobody else I'd rather road trip with. Plus, she makes the BEST COOKIES OF ALL TIME. Through Beth, I met her nephew Cory (it sounds weird, but they're very close in age). He's now Beth's roommate, and we've grown very close over the past few years. He's the David Rose to my Alexis and my favorite wedding date.
