Iowa’s Best Hotel Restaurant is Located Inside a Historic Building

The next time you're visiting Des Moines, you may want to consider booking a stay inside the hotel with the most delicious food in the state! A new article from Love Food says that Mulberry Street Tavern is the best hotel restaurant in Iowa.

Mulberry Street Tavern is the restaurant located inside the Surety Hotel at 206 6th Ave in Downtown Des Moines. The 12-story building was constructed back in 1913 and was home to the Iowa Loan & Trust Company. The restaurant is on the ground level of the historic high-rise.

According to the article from Love Food, Mulberry Street Tavern "takes quintessential tavern food and elevates it to a more refined level." It reads:

In addition to the charcuterie, some of the other "For the Table" options on the menu at Mulberry Street Tavern include oysters, smoked whitefish, scotch eggs, crispy cauliflower. The three-course dinner option allows diners to choose from soup or salad for course one, and a variety of second (main) course options like grilled steaks, pork chops, seasonal pot pie, brook trout, and a half-chicken. The restaurant also features a drink menu with craft cocktails, wine, beer, and cider.

If you're visiting for brunch on a Saturday or Sunday, Mulberry Street Tavern offers avocado toast, a braised pork burrito, biscuits & gravy, a fried chicken sandwich, pancakes, and more.

Mulberry Street Tavern is open for dinner Monday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday & Saturday from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Brunch is available on weekends from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can read more about the restaurant on their website HERE.
