Once again it's Morel mushroom season. But 2020 brings a new set of concerns.

Due to the coronavirus crisis, this year's hunting may be hindered by a few closings of wildlife areas or state parks. But with no Iowa shelter in place orders, it is still legal to go out onto private lands and other parts of nature to seek out some morels.

Morel mushroom hunting is traditionally a solitary expedition, and this year that is an important distinction. You should still be careful and practice social distancing as recommended.

The cool weather usually slows the start of gathering season, and that may be a good thing. What is certain is that now through mid-May, you can hope to catch your fair share by using theses tips and websites.
