Orkin Names Milwaukee, Wisconsin Top Bed Bug Destination In 2025

Try not to cringe when you read this! Orkin has released their annual list of the worst cities for bed bugs.

This list took a twelve-month period into account, using data from May 2024 through May 2025 to make their list.

As always, this list looked at the biggest metro areas in the country where Orkin performed bed bug treatments within that yearlong window. This includes residential bed bug services and commercial bed bug treatments.

Unfortunately, this did not go well for one Wisconsin city. This particular city placed in the top ten, which is not ideal.

Sadly, Milwaukee has been named the tenth worst state for bed bugs, meaning it has some of the most bed bug infestations in the country.

This isn't the only bad news. Milwaukee jumped up quite a bit from last year, jumping up fifteen spots to crack the top ten. Yikes!

How To Prevent Bed Bugs If You're Traveling

No one wants to encounter bed bugs but there are things we can do if we are traveling to any of the areas on this list! Start by recognizing the signs of bed bugs, like small ink-like stains on bed sheets and a sweet but musty smell.

Other things you can do include lifting sheets and curtains, and other like objects, to look for the signs of bed bugs. Elevate your luggage and keep it away from furniture, including your bed, and put your clothes in the dryer upon returning home.

As for Minnesota, we did a bit better. Minneapolis made the list at number forty, also jumping up about seven spots from last year. Eeeeek.

You should NOT travel there if a country is issued a Level 4 advisory. As of May 2025, the countries below are on the 'Do Not Travel' list.
