After a couple weeks of inactivity, the layoffs appear to have resumed in Illinois as a new report shows a mass layoff is imminent for a logistics company in the state.

The Illinois Work Net Center site is the location where WARN notices are revealed. What is a WARN notice? It is by definition the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act of 1988 which requires companies with 100 or more employees to provide 60 days notice of any mass layoff that becomes necessary. According to this new notice to the state of Illinois, Ryder Integrated Logistics, Inc. located at 1001 13th Street in East Moline, Illinois is laying off 32 with the first layoffs beginning on September 27, 2025.

One important thing to note is that Ryder Integrated Logistics does not have a location at this address on their official website. Wikipedia does show a presence in the East Moline area. Perhaps this is a truck rental location or something else. Regardless, that's the address provided that's connected to this WARN notice. It's also not confirmed if the layoff of 32 starting in late September are temporary or permanent. Sometimes layoffs can just be restructuring with employees having an opportunity to relocate within the company and maintain employment. Let's hope that whatever the reality is for those in East Moline affected by this will be a good result for all involved.
