Iowa Events Center Arena in Des Moines Is Getting a New Name
Fans attending an event at one of Iowa's largest indoor concert and sporting venues will be referring to the facility by a new name in 2025.
After being known as Wells Fargo Arena for nearly 20 years, the 15,000-seat Des Moines venue will be renamed the Casey's Center next year.
Polk County officials and venue operators Oak View Group have announced a new ten-year naming rights deal with the Ankeny-based convenience retailer Casey’s. The deal will see the Iowa Events Center arena officially renamed July 1, 2025, pending approval from the Polk County Board of Supervisors, which is expected to happen this week.
The renaming comes after Wells Fargo, the original naming rights partner of the arena, opted not to renew its agreement when the contract expires June 30, 2025.

The arena opened July 12, 2005, at a cost of $117 million. It seats 15,181 people for hockey and arena football games, 16,110 for basketball games, and as many as 16,980 for concerts.
Over the past two decades, it has seen 10 million guests pass through its doors and hosted the likes of Paul McCartney, Garth Brooks, Tom Petty, Elton John, and Taylor Swift. The venue is currently the home of the Iowa Wolves (NBA G League), Iowa Barnstormers (Indoor Football League), and Iowa Wild (American Hockey League).
The arena is scheduled to host the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championships First and Second Rounds in March 2028.
Casey's was founded in Iowa back in 1967, when Donald Lamberti bought the Square Deal Oil Company in Boone, and converted it into a convenience store. As of 2024, Casey's has grown to more than 2,600 stores across 17 states and is the third-largest convenience retailer and fifth-largest pizza chain in the U.S.
