Person Rescued From Grain Bin On Iowa Farm
The grain bin can be one of the most dangerous places on the farm. If you aren’t careful, they can lead to some deadly situations.
Fortunately, this wasn’t the case in Plymouth County on Wednesday.
At around 4:45 Wednesday evening, the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office received a report about a person trapped in a grain bin just southwest of Merrill.
According to a release from the department, several agencies responded to the call, and “the subject was removed from the grain bin without incident.”
Agencies that assisted in the call included: Hinton Fire/Hinton Ambulance, Merrill Fire/Merrill Ambulance, Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office, Hinton Police Department, Iowa State Patrol, and Mercy Air Care.
Hardin County Grain Elevator Burns Over a Week

Innovative Ag Services Co-op in Garden City feeds six silos with grain. However, on December 21, the materials in the facility self-combusted.
That's when the Radcliffe Fire Department was called.
By January 3rd the fire was still smoldering and the fire crew was still on standby in case the fire flared up again while crews from Gregerson Salvage manually remove the grain.
Residents around the grain co-op say that at times the smell from the elevator can get "pretty stinky".
