Get ready for some Mexican food! El Viejo Mexican Restaurant has officially opened for business in NE Cedar Rapids!

El Viejo Mexican Restaurant is a popular eatery in Boone, Iowa that has just expanded to Cedar Rapids. Located at 90 Twixt Town Road, the new El Viejo has replaced both restaurants that were formerly part of the Longbranch Hotel. The Longbranch Hotel website says that the restaurant and steak were closed for remodeling, but did not specify when it would be reopening or what the restaurants would become. Now we know!

According to the official website, El Viejo Mexican Restaurant offers "a wide variety of authentic Mexican dishes." The menu features a large selection of tacos, burritos, nachos, chimichangas, quesadillas, fajitas, enchiladas, and seafood dishes, like ceviche and oysters. Some of the house specialties include Carne Asada, Molcajete, Chile Verde, and Pal Viejo. There are also soups, salads, and vegetarian options, as well as plenty of margaritas! Orders can be placed online for carryout HERE.

El Viejo in Cedar Rapids opened its doors to the public on August 28th and is now open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. For the latest updates, you can check out their Facebook page HERE.
