May 20th is National Rescue Dog Day, so we took the opportunity to celebrate our adopted best friends!
Here at the radio station, we work with some amazing local animal rescues for our weekly 'Furry Friday' segment, which we feature both on the air and on our station Facebook page. Those rescues include Last Hope Animal Rescue, Dogs Forever, Safe Haven of Iowa County, and S.A.I.N.T. Cat Rescue. It's because of one of these organizations that I was introduced to my Tater Tot!
My son Tater (originally named WADE???) was adopted from Last Hope back in 2020, at the very beginning of the pandemic. I had just moved from an apartment into a house the previous fall, which meant that I would FINALLY be able to get a dog! Since we had to cancel our trip to Nashville because of COVID, I used the money I had saved to adopt him... and the rest is history! He's my happy, sassy, snaggle-toofed, sock-obsessed, little weirdo, and I don't know how I would've gotten though these past 6 years without him.
Brain adopted his dog Barry from a local animal rescue called Tails in Transit last spring. He came up from Texas with his siblings, and Brain's family decided to foster him for a few weeks before eventually adopting him. Barry came from a tough situation, so there were definitely some challenges to overcome. But now, a year later, Barry is thriving! He's come out of his shell now that he knows what it means to be loved.
In honor of National Rescue Dog Day, we asked our listeners to share their adopted pups with us and tell us where they were rescued from. Here are some of those adorable dogs!
