Three high school students are now facing charges after being accused of creating fake nude images of other students with the help of artificial intelligence.

Students Used AI to Create Nude Images

CBS2 reports that three high school students from Cascade High School have been charged. It was first reported back in May that a group of students had allegedly attached the victim's headshots to other images of nude bodies. Officials with the school district said that they were made aware of the photos back on March 25th.

According to CBS2, school officials have stated that "any student charged as a creator or distributor of materials like those in question will not be permitted to attend school in person at Cascade Junior/Senior High School."

Law Enforcement Says More Students Could be Charged

The Dubuque County Attorney's Office issued a statement Tuesday saying that the students were accused of creating "numerous" photos of high school-aged girls using AI programming, according to CBS2. Officials say that the photos were shared among students, but don't believe they got out of those circles. CBS2 reports that charges are likely against a fourth student, too.
