If You See These Birds in Iowa, Spring Is Right Around the Corner
If you don't consider bird-watching one of your hobbies, give it time. I watched my grandparents watch birds in their backyard when I was a kid, and thought, "Man, they're old!" Now, my parents have bird feeders set up everywhere so they can see colorful birds in their spare time. And yet, I still say to myself, "That will never be me." Well, this is the month when everyone can be a bird watcher as many species return to Iowa just in time for Spring.
What Birds Will Return to Iowa in March?
The Iowa City Bird Club has a fantastic site dedicated to all bird species in Iowa, and when they will return for their Spring migration. While a few birds like Finches and Waxwings increase in late February, the scene really heats up in March. According to the Iowa City Bird Club's month-by-month bird calendar, the Northern Migration brings thousands of birds back to Iowa, including Bluebirds, Robins, Redwing Blackbirds, Killdeer, and more. Take a look at some images of birds you'll see this month in Iowa!

What Other Birds Will Return to Iowa in Spring?
Where do we even start? The Iowa City Bird Club breaks it all down month by month, and the list is extensive! April and May are full of returning birds, including major songbird and shorebird migrations.
The bottom line is, as the weather warms, the birds are back! Fill your feeders, call your parents and grandparents, and let the bird watching begin!
