Popular Cedar Rapids Mexican Restaurant Planning Second Location

Go ahead and get your jokes in now. Yes...another Mexican restaurant is coming to Cedar Rapids. But this restaurant will be a second location for an already popular business in Cedar Rapids, with a twist.

Mexican Restaurant to Open Second Location

Newsbreak reports that Rio Burritos will soon have a second Cedar Rapids location. They are currently located at 5001 First Ave. NE. Their second location will be at 2300 Edgewood Road SW, Suite G. That is the former location of Buff City Soap, which closed several months ago. Newsbreak reports that Rio Burritos owner Phoebe Rios hopes to have the new, full-service location open by the end of the year.

How Will The New Location Be Different?

Fans of Rio Burritos will still be able to get a few popular items, including birria, at the new location. But Newsbreak reports the new restaurant will feature a new and different menu. Rios said that she will serve year-round tamales at the new restaurant, which are currently only available at certain times. She also stated that the new menu will feature more authentic Mexican dishes you won't find at other restaurants.

Newsbreak reports that Rios decided to expand to a second location because the demand for Mexican food in the Corridor continues to grow, despite the jokes on social media.

If you're wondering what the new restaurant will be called, Rios says she is still thinking about whether it will be called Rio Burritos or something new. Either way, we know it will be delicious!
