If you have kids and are looking for a fun place to take them within the city of Cedar Rapids, all you have to do is head for the farm!

More specifically Old MacDonald's Farm! The farm and petting zoo is located within Bever Park on the southeast side of Cedar Rapids. It is run and operated by the Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation Department, according to Cedar-Rapids.org. The best part about the farm and petting zoo is that it is free for families to visit, although donations are accepted and appreciated.

Old MacDonald's farm has been open for over 100 years and features numerous farm animals and waterfowl. During a visit, you'll encounter,

  • Chickens
  • Cattle
  • Ducks
  • Goats
  • Lambs
  • Pigs
  • Rabbits

If you're wondering when you can plan your trip to Old MacDonald's Farm, wonder no more! The farm opens to the public beginning today at 10 a.m.!

The petting zoo will now be open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through September 29th. There is even a special 'Chalk the Farm' event today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Kids are encouraged to use their imagination and decorate the sidewalks of Old MacDonald's Farm!

If you want a more immersive experience for your group or class, one-hour group tours of the farm are available. Cedar-Rapids.org reports that the tours are $4 per person and run weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. You get a tour of the park and in-depth, hands-on time with the animals in the zoo. Old MacDonald's Farm also hosts birthday parties and will host Goat Yoga from June through August.
