Iowa Bar Named One of the Best in the Nation

When you go for a drink at this Iowa bar, it's like stepping back in time. No TVs. No distractions. Just some conversation over drinks. Welcome to The Bartender's Handshake. 

This unique drinking establishment opened in 2019 in a former stained-glass store, according to the Des Moines Register. The interior features retro artwork and furniture, and glasses found at thrift stores. The Bartender's Handshake is a small, intimate bar. The Register reports that it can feel crowded with only four people inside. To create more room, an outdoor patio area was added in 2020.

You can check out this unique Iowa bar in Des Moines. It is located at 3615 Ingersoll Avenue. The Register reports that the menu changes with drinks being added by staff members regularly. One of the Best Bars in the Nation

The Register reports that The Bartender's Handshake has been selected by USA Today as one of the best bars in the US. Only 29 establishments were selected and featured on this year's list.

The Bartender's Handshake is open daily from 2 pm to 1 am. They are open for late-night happy hour on Friday and Saturday until 2 am.
