Iowa Event Features More Than 1,000 Carved Pumpkins [PHOTOS]
Get ready for more Halloween fun in the state of Iowa! For the next two weekends, Reiman Gardens in Ames will host their annual Spirits in the Gardens event!
Spirits in the Gardens is a family-friendly event that showcases over 1,000 "intricately carved Jack-O-Lanterns." Hundreds of volunteers gather together to gut, stencil designs, and carve the pumpkins, as you can see in the video below:
For the first time, Reiman Gardens will host TWO weekends of Spirits in the Gardens, with the second weekend having entirely new jack-o-lanterns. The event also features lighted trails and holograms, chemistry experiments, cosplay, and pre-packaged snacks and warm drinks for purchase. There will also be plenty of candy for the kids! The official website reads:
"On Saturday or Sunday, visit our Candy Factory on the Events Plaza to collect treats and non-candy items from our whimsical candy slides. Treats will be available all evening on Saturday and Sunday!"
If you choose to purchase tickets for Saturday or Sunday dates, it is recommended that kids bring trick-or-treat bags for candy collection. And, of course, all are welcome to come in costume!
Tickets for Friday nights are available, too, but those are "Jack-O-Lantern Sneak Peek" nights. That means there is no candy or additional entertainment, but there is a cash bar for ages 21+.
Spirits in the Gardens will run Friday, October 13th & 20th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on October 14th, 15th, 21st, & 22nd. Tickets are $15 for ages 13 and up, $7 for ages 2 to 12, and free for children under 2. Tickets are sold for specific time slots each night and are available for purchase online.
