Has the lackluster Iowa offense and uncertainty at the offensive coordinator position put a damper on football recruiting? According to experts, the answer is a resounding 'NO'!

While Iowa's most high-profile 2023 recruit Kadyn Proctor changed his mind, the recruiting class of 2024 is looking great! In fact, Hawkeyes Wire reports that ESPN has the Hawkeye ranked among the top ten incoming classes for 2024. Iowa came in ranked number 10, and the top class in the Big Ten Conference. The Hawks already have commitments from two top 300 high school stars. Here is what Craig Haubert from ESPN had to say about the Hawkeye's 2024 class.

Time will tell if the Hawkeyes can maintain a place around the top 10, but early on they’re building off of in-state talent to rank among the top classes. Cody Fox is a top OG prospect nationally and the top-rated in-state prospect. They have kept two very good versatile players home in Cam Buffington and Preston Ries, who both project to linebacker. Ries, who also plays quarterback for Monticello Community High School, tested very well on the camp circuit this past offseason, and his athleticism translated to the field as well. He should only improve with a focus on defense.

Yes, there is a lot of time left for members of the class of 2024 to commit. In fact, Hawkeye Wire reports that  220 members of ESPN's top 300 players have yet to choose a school! So whose classes ranked above Iowa's? Check out this list!

  1. Georgia
  2. Notre Dame
  3. LSU
  4. Florida State
  5. Alabama
  6. Florida
  7. South Carolina
  8. Oregon
  9. Clemson
  10. IOWA

If you're wondering about the class of 2023, there is no doubt that the rankings would have been higher had five-star offensive lineman Kaydn Proctor stayed instead of heading to Alabama. But despite that, Hawkeye Wire reports that Iowa's class of 2023 has a composite ranking of 35. Football season can't get here soon enough! LET'S GO HAWKS!
