UPDATE: YouTube TV and Fox Reach Extension for College Football
UPDATE 8-28
CNBC reports that Google has announced that YouTube TV has reached a short-term extension with Fox to prevent its channels from going dark on the streaming service. The deal was no doubt done with a huge weekend of college football quickly approaching, and many of the games can be seen on Fox networks.
Iowa and Iowa State fans can breathe easy for this weekend. Google won't say how long the extension is for.
ORIGINAL STORY
The college football season kicks into high gear this weekend with huge matchups and both Iowa and Iowa State in action on Saturday. But if you have YouTube TV, you might be unable to watch any of the action at home.
Why Might Some Games Not Be On YouTube TV?
The Des Moines Register reports that on Monday, August 25th, YouTube TV notified its millions of subscribers, including yours truly, that they were in a contract dispute with Fox over carrying its programming. YouTube TV said that "Our current agreement with Fox is approaching its renewal date." The two sides are still discussing terms.
When Will Fox Channels Be Taken Off YouTube TV?
According to the Register, if the two sides are unable to reach an agreement by Wednesday, August 27th, Fox channels may become unavailable to YouTube TV subscribers. That means no Fox Broadcast Network, Fox News, and Fox Sports until a new deal is reached. YouTube TV has stated that if the channels go away, users will get a $10 bill credit.

How Does This Affect Iowa and Iowa State Football Games?
If no deal is reached, you won't be able to see Iowa or Iowa State this weekend. The Register reports that Iowa State hosts South Dakota State on Saturday at 2:30 pm. The game will be televised on Fox. Later that evening at 5 pm, Iowa kicks off its season versus Albany. That game will be shown on Fox Sports 1.
The Cy-Hawk game the following weekend is also scheduled to be shown on Fox at 11 am. Hawkeye and Cyclone fans better hope cooler heads prevail so we can watch our favorite teams this weekend!
