Happy St. Patrick's Day! Are you feeling lucky? If you live in Iowa, your answer should probably be YES! According to a new study from Action Network, Iowa is one of the luckiest states in the entire U.S.

How Did They Determine the Rankings?

Action Network looked at several different factors in order to rank all 50 states on how lucky or unlucky they are. The study reads:

"Luck is not just about scratch-offs. It's also shaped by financial stability, personal safety, and day-to-day quality of life. To find the luckiest states, we looked at dozens of data points, from credit scores and workplace accidents to literal lightning strikes, to see where life tends to break your way and where the odds are tougher."

Where Did Iowa Rank?

The Hawkeye State didn't just rank high on this study... it ranked REALLY high! Out of all 50 states, Iowa was named the #2 luckiest, only behind New Hampshire. Iowa's "luck score" was 69.98 out of 100, with the study saying that our high ranking is mostly due to financial stability and affordability. It reads:

"The state pairs excellent housing affordability (0.92) with a high average credit score (719), which points to a pretty solid financial foundation overall. Iowa also has low accident death rates and relatively few natural disasters, helping it score well on the safety side."

Additional factors cited in the study include Iowa's nine major lottery wins, with a lottery payout per capita of $140, and an Irish population of around 13%.
