Marion to Host Inaugural Oktoberfest in Uptown Marion
The Marion Chamber made an exciting announcement Monday morning. The city will be hosting its first Oktoberfest celebration later this year.
In a Monday morning media release, the Marion Chamber revealed that Oktoberfest will take place on Saturday, September 17 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will be held in Uptown Marion on 7th Avenue and City Square Park.
Marion's inaugural Oktoberfest is going to include craft beers of varying styles from 25 breweries here in Iowa and surrounding areas. The breweries will all have representatives at the event to discuss their beers. There will also be live music and traditional German games like hammerschlagen and a stein holding contest.
Anyone attending Oktoberfest will get a commemorative tasting glass, complimentary water, access to samples from the breweries, and can also take part in the contests. You must be 21 to attend.
General admission tickets for Oktoberfest in Marion are $40. VIP tickets, which allow access to brewers at 11 a.m., instead of noon, are $50. VIP tickets include limited-run products, swag items, and a Premium Oktoberfest tasting glass. All tickets are now on sale and can be purchased here.
You can find more information on Oktoberfest here or you can call for further details. The Marion Chamber phone number is (319) 377-6316.
Event proceeds will go to the beautification of Marion during the holidays, via the Winter Lights program. The Iowa Brewer's Guild will also benefit in their efforts to support the local brewing community, and improve the quality of craft beer brewed in the state of Iowa.
