Where is it?

Polanco Mexican Restaurant is located at 3025 Mount Vernon Rd SE in Cedar Rapids, the former home of Casa De Ojos Locos. It's not clear when Casa De Ojos Locos closed, but it just opened its doors in less than a year ago, replacing Pregame Brew & Chew after it relocated to Boyson Rd NE. The website for Casa De Ojos Locos is still active, but the Facebook page has been removed.

What do they serve?

Polanco Mexican Restaurant's website describes the new business as a Mexican restaurant with a sports bar atmosphere. The menu is inspired by the Polanco District in Mexico City, and "each dish is prepared fresh, using quality ingredients that bring authentic flavors to your table." Options include pozole, huaraches, elote, sopes, enchiladas, ceviche, fajitas, quesadillas, tacos, burritos, birria dishes, flan, chimichangas, and more. They are also a few non-Mexican items on the menu, like wings, burgers, and tenderloins.

Polanco prides itself on its "handcrafted margaritas," which are "mixed to order using fresh ingredients rather than pre-made mixes." During their happy hour, customers can get jumbo-sized lime margaritas for only $5!

You can check out Polanco Mexican Restaurant's full menu online HERE.

When are they open?

Polanco Mexican Restaurant is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday & Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. For more information, you can follow the restaurant's Facebook page HERE.

Vos Que Queréis

Polanco Mexican Restaurant isn't the only new eatery to open in Linn County in recent weeks! The building at 515 Williams Blvd in Fairfax is now home to a restaurant called Vos Que Queréis. Vos Que Queréis serves authentic Venezuelan cuisine, like arepa cabimera (fried cornmeal arepa cut into squares and served open-style), pabellón (rice, shredded beef in stew, and stewed black beans), patacón (a twice-fried green plantain dish), pepitos (Latin American street-food sandwiches), perros calientes (Venezuelan hot dogs), and quesillo (dessert similar to a caramel flan).

Vos Que Queréis had its official grand opening on Friday, July 31st and is now open for regular business hours. Those hours are:

  • Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Friday & Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
