A Second New Restaurant Has Opened Inside the Former Chrome Horse in Cedar Rapids
The takeover of the old Chrome Horse Saloon building in the NewBo District is now complete! Rhapsody Spirits & Provisions opened its doors last month, which means that the space is now home to two different restaurants.

After a sneak peek patio party on June 6th, Rhapsody Spirits & Provisions officially began welcoming customers on June 16th. The new bar & restaurant "offers a laid back, eclectic atmosphere with elevated, fun eats, tuned to your taste."
The menu at Rhapsody features a wide variety of items, including some unique takes on classic restaurant fare. Options include Cool Ranch Mac N Cheese Bites, Kimchi Fried Chicken Bao Buns, the Bacon Queso Burger, Colorado Pork Green Chili Enchiladas, Baked Sweet Corn Mac N Cheese, Pineapple Peanut Chicken Fried Rice, the Parmesan-Crusted Breaded Pork Tenderloin. The restaurant also has a weekly special called the 'Freaky Friday Feature,' as well as a 'Shot of the Week.'
In addition to food and beverages, Rhapsody is taking full advantage of their expansive covered patio and outdoor stage. They already have a couple of live music events on the schedule, including one coming up this Saturday with the band 90's Kid.
Rhapsody is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday & Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. The kitchen will continue to serve food until a half-hour before close each night. You can follow the new restaurant on Facebook HERE.
Mercury Diner & Drinks
The other half of the Chrome Horse Building is home to Mercury Diner & Drinks, which officially opened under the name 'Odd Mama's Vintage Cafe' back in October of 2025. The name was changed to Mercury Diner & Drinks just a few weeks after opening due to a change in ownership.
Mercury Diner & Drinks has a different menu then Rhapsody, although there are a few items that can be found on both. And, unlike Rhapsody, the restaurant also serves breakfast, in addition to lunch and dinner. Mercury is open daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. You can check out the Facebook page HERE.
