If there is one thing that Iowans love to do it's check out the beautiful fall colors we're blessed with this time of year. Many of you reading this right now have already made a trip to view the foliage or are planning to soon. And while a car ride is a perfectly acceptable way to check out the fall views, why not take a train ride instead?

The Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad features lunch and dinner train excursions throughout the year, but fall is the most popular time to book a trip. In fact, dinner rides are already sold out for the remainder of 2023! But there is one ride that still has tickets available for this weekend and next!

The Pumpkin Express trains have arrived! The Boone and Scenic Valley railroad offers rides to their pumpkin patch where kids can hop off the train, pick out a pumpkin, and then enjoy the train ride back to Boone. Your trip will also include riding over the 156-foot-tall Bass Point High Creek Bridge as well as the Des Moines River Bridge. Talk about a one-of-a-kind view!

Palisades-Kepler State Park in the Fall

I took a drive out to Palisades-Kepler State Park in Mount Vernon to capture some of the beautiful fall colors before winter takes over. I hope you enjoy the scenery as much as I did!
