A New Store With Discounted Activewear & Outdoor Gear Has Opened in the Corridor

Attention shoppers: a brand new store is now open in the Corridor, just in time for the holiday shopping season! Sierra has officially opened its doors in Coralville.

What is Sierra?

According to the official website, Sierra, formerly known as Sierra Trading Post, "is an off-price retailer, selling almost everything you might need when you are outside, whether you are exploring the world or enjoying time in your backyard with family." It's part of TJX Companies, which also owns T.J. Maxx, HomeGoods, and Marshalls, so the way the store operates should be familiar to customers of those other businesses. New merchandise arrives several times a week, which means the inventory is constantly changing, and the prices are "generally 20‑60% less than department and specialty store prices."

What Do They Sell?

Basically, if it has to do with the outdoors, Sierra probably sells it. Whether you're into skiing/snowboarding, hiking, fishing, running, biking, yoga, camping, hunting, or outdoor sports, Sierra offers gear and clothing you might need. As far as clothing and activewear goes, the store offers men's, women's, and children's sizes. They even have stuff for your pets!

Where is the New Iowa Store?

An article from the Daily Iowan reports that the latest Iowa store is located at 2515 Corridor Way in Coralville, part of the Coral North Strip Mall. It's in the space that used to be home to Bed Bath & Beyond, which closed in 2023.

When is it Open?

Sierra held its official grand opening on Saturday, November 15th, and there was a line at the door before they even opened! The Daily Iowan says that the store celebrated with "tote bag giveaways, gift cards hidden by employees throughout the store, and a $10,000 donation to a local nonprofit." That non-profit was Houses into Homes in  Johnson County.

Sierra is now open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Where Are the Other Iowa Locations?

With the addition of the Coralville location, there are now a total of five Sierra stores in Iowa. Here are details on the other four:
