Do you ever think about businesses that aren't around anymore and wish they could come back?

This all started when I was going through some old photos yesterday. Thanks to my CourtlinEatsIowa Instagram account, I have over 2,000 photos of food saved in a folder on my phone. I came across one that made me incredibly hungry, but also sad.

Those absolute beauties are the mozzarella sticks from Grin N Goose, a Downtown Cedar Rapids restaurant that officially closed its doors in 2021. It was located at 227 2nd Ave SE, where Cliff's Dive Bar is now. I've eaten a lot of mozzarella sticks in my life, but the ones at Grin N Goose were the absolute BEST. You can't really tell how big they are from the photo, but just two of those babies could fill you up. I miss them so much.

This got me thinking about other restaurants in the Cedar Rapids area that are no longer open. Za's Pizza on 42nd St NE in Cedar Rapids closed back in 2016, but I still think about their baked potato and mac & cheese pizzas. And then there's Vito's on 42nd, which had the best spinach artichoke dip of all time! Vivian's Soul Food is another place I miss dearly. Their fried chicken and mac & cheese were to DIE for.
