A New Speakeasy Has Opened Inside a North Liberty Restaurant
For the past few weeks, Tin Roost in North Liberty has been teasing something new. That something new is actually a speakeasy! It's called The Velvet Room, and it's "hidden in plain sight" inside the popular restaurant.

About Tin Roost
Located at 840 W Penn St, Tin Roost is a North Liberty restaurant that's known for its scratch menu, huge outdoor patio, and over-the-top decorations during the holidays. It opened its doors in August of 2017, which means the restaurant will celebrate its 10-year anniversary next year! Tin Roost has a solid 4.4-star rating on Google thanks to the 2,500 reviews left by customers.

About The Velvet Room
According to the reservation website Tock, The Velvet Room is a new speakeasy where guests can enjoy "professionally crafted, upscale cocktails and tapas" in a "newly renovated, top-secret space."

The menu features signature beverages like the Strawberry Rose Negroni, Cucumber Gimlet, and Velvet Old Fashioned, as well as small plates like Tuscan Sliders, Mussels, and Sausage & Pretzel Boards. There are also several dessert options, including Deviled Strawberries, Chocolate Mousse, and a drink called "Velvet Night." Check out the full menu on the speakeasy's website HERE.

As of August 7th, The Velvet Room inside of Tin Roost is open for reservations for up to 8 people. You must be 21 or older to visit, and reservations are currently available from now through the end of September. The speakeasy is open weekdays beginning at 4:30 p.m., Fridays & Saturdays beginning at 3 p.m., and Sundays beginning at 4 p.m. or 5 p.m. You can view all the open dates & times and reserve your table HERE.

Another New Speakeasy
The Velvet Room is actually the SECOND Eastern Iowa speakeasy that we've learned about this week! A few days ago, it was announced that a new underground bar called Shellsburg Speakeasy will be opening soon on Pearl Street in Downtown Shellsburg! Read more about that new business HERE.
