Body of Missing Iowa Teenager Found in Benton County
The body of a Benton County teenager missing since late March has reportedly been found.
The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that 18-year-old Zander McClintock was last seen in Marion on March 31st at around 11:30 p.m. He was reportedly traveling by car to Van Horne. The Gazette reports that Benton County Sheriff's Deputies found McClintock's vehicle, a 2004 black Chevy Cavalier, about 5 miles south of Vinton. According to the sheriff's department, human remains were also found at the scene.
The Gazette reports that Benton County Sheriff Ronald Tippett said that while the body has not yet been identified, investigators have no reason to believe that the body is not that of Zander McClintock. An initial investigation points to a possible automobile crash and authorities say that foul play is not suspected at this time.
The missing person report for McClintock was canceled. The case continues to be investigated by the Benton County Sheriff's Office, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the state fire marshall, and the state medical examiner.
