Is there a more likable player in the NFL than Brock Purdy? Now in his third full-season as the incumbent starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, fresh off a five-year, $265 million contract extension, Purdy continues to be one of the most intriguing stories in the league. On Sunday, September 28th, he returned after a two-week absence due to injury as the Niners suited up to face the Jacksonville Jaguars.

While the Niners might've lost to the Jaguars, Purdy arguably won the week from a PR perspective. Per The Des Moines Register, the former Iowa State quarterback partnered with John Deere to surprise farm families in Polk City with hot meals.

Purdy Made the Hillebo Family's Year:

Brock Purdy, alongside Jackson Laux, a 10-year-old farming influencer with over 1.3 million followers on TikTok and Instagram, showed up in Polk City to meet Corey Hillebo, a fifth-generation farmer, and his family. Many members of the Hillebo family graduated from Iowa State, and have been die-hard Cyclone fans for decades.

Purdy and Laux showed up on the Hillebo family farm to surprise them with some delicious eats. Hillebo cohosts the popular Farm4Profit podcast. Dozens of John Deere staff arrived on his farm with cameras, equipment, and of course, meals for the Hillebo family and others.

The Purpose of the Meals:

The hot meals Purdy and company provided were part of John Deere's Field Meals, which celebrates farmers during the busy harvest season. Purdy and Laux dropped by multiple family farms to treat farmers to piping hot meals. The two also visited teh Couser family farm at their home near Nevada.

Hillebo said the meal they were provided consisted of brisket sandwiches, corn on the cob, and a peach pastry.

Of course, Purdy took pictures with the families and signed autographs, including the Hillebo Family Farms sign. Hillebo said that Purdy even proposed the possibility of purchasing some Iowa farmland in the future. That's a story for another day, but that's a fascinating development in itself.

Upon returning from injury, Purdy tried but failed to lead the already-depleted 49ers to a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars this past weekend. No less, the 49ers are in a good position, record-wise, at 3-1, but they desperately need to get healthy after a slew of injuries to their star players.
