New Restaurant, Gathering Place Set to Open in McGregor

A brand new restaurant is slated to open this weekend in McGregor, IA, and serve as both an eatery and a gathering place for residents and visitors of the quaint little river town.

The Station on Main is set to open on Friday, July 3rd, 2026. It is one of the first public-facing projects within the McGregor Project, a new initiative designed to preserve the city's history while propelling its future. The Station on Main is located on the site of a former Standard Oil service station erected in 1930. The new restaurant can be found at 127 Main Street in McGregor.

What You Can Expect from The Station on Main:

The Station's menu is rooted in Midwestern comfort food traditions and foods familiar to the community, per a press release. Here are some of the menu highlights:

Smash burgers
Seasonal sides
Fresh salads
House-made sauces
Soft-serve, sundaes, milkshakes, and floats

The design of the restaurant is an amalgamation of nostalgic Americana with modern touches acknowledging the area's history. On the property is a restored, authentic vintage gas pump, which also serves as the restaurant's logo. An encapsulation of the aforementioned McGregor Project's goal to advance the town forward while keeping the past in mind.

The July 3rd Grand Opening of The Station:

Set to open on July 3rd, The Station on Main will feature live music, lawn games, giveaways, and an opportunity to order off the full menu from 11am - 9pm. Other events will follow, and updates can be found on the restaurant's official website. You can also find The Station on Instagram.

From there, The Station on Main will be open Sundays through Thursdays (11am - 8pm) and Fridays and Saturdays (11am - 9pm).
