Dubuque’s Veterans Day Schedule, Discounts, and Freebies

Veterans Day, observed every November 11th, is a day we set aside to honor all U.S. military veterans. That's anyone who has served in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and other military branches. Unlike Memorial Day, which remembers those who gave their lives in service, Veterans Day celebrates living veterans and recognizes their dedication, sacrifices, and commitment to protecting our freedoms.

Communities across the country will be holding parades, ceremonies, and public events, and many businesses offer discounts and freebies as a token of gratitude for veterans’ service. If you're in the Dubuque-land area here's what our veterans can expect in their honor, as well as some freebies they have most definitely earned.

Dubuque Veterans Day Events and City Services

For veterans and the public in the Dubuque area, there are several key events and service updates to keep in mind:

Dubuque American Legion Post No. 6 Ceremony

• When: Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at 10:30 AM
• Where: ImOn Arena, Chaplain Schmitt Island
• Details: Open to the public. Veterans organizations and military units from the tri-state area are encouraged to participate.
• Following the ceremony, join them for their annual chili feed at their Legion Hall located at 1306 Delhi Street.

City of Dubuque Service Updates (Nov 11, 2025)

• City offices, including City Hall, will be closed.
• Carnegie-Stout Public Library and Multicultural Family Center will be closed.
• Public works will operate regular refuse, yard debris, and recycling collection.
• The Jule buses (fixed route, mini-buses, and downtown shuttle) will follow normal Monday schedules; the Intermodal Transportation Center will remain closed.
• Parking meters: Expiration violations will not be enforced.

Additionally, the Veterans Freedom Center will be serving free smoked pork loin sandwiches courtesy of Catfish Charlies. Serving from 11AM to 2 PM at the Veterans Freedom Center. This meal is free and for all veterans and their families.
