Eastern Iowa Winter Golf Classic Postponed To Late March
It may sound a little odd that a golf open that is geared towards playing in the winter is being postponed until the spring. But have you seen the weird "winter" we've had here in Eastern Iowa?
Right now, we're setting the record for the warmest February on record and the 10th driest February on record in the Quad Cities. It's been a fairly unpredictable winter but it's making things a little bit of a nightmare for those planning the 2025 Chili Open with the Davenport Parks and Recreation Department.
If you plan on golfing at the event this Saturday, change your plans to participate at the end of March when spring officially arrives.

2025 Chili Open Postponed To Spring
Spring 2025 begins on March 20th and the following weekend will be when the Davenport Parks and Recreation Department will host its 2025 Chili Open.
The Chili Open Golf Classic, which the Davenport Parks and Recreation Department puts on annually, has been postponed to Saturday, March 29th. It was originally set for this Saturday, March 1st.
The Chili Open is at a new Davenport golf course this year, Typically held at Red Hawk Golf Course, this year's classic will take place at Duck Creek Golf Course off of East Locust Street.
In an email sent to me, officials said the reason for the postponement of the Chili Open to March 29th:
"The course is very wet. The frost is still coming out of the ground and hopefully by the end of March we should be in better condition."
Officials say they will be starting with a blank tee sheet and for those that want more information and tee times, contact Matt Hasley at matt.hasley@davenportiowa.com or 563-326-7824. The cost of golf is $15 per person.
