Popular Eastern Iowa Upscale Restaurant Suddenly Closes
Pour one out for the Brady Street eatery.
Unfortunately, it looks like the QC is losing another restaurant. Thunder Bay Grille on Brady Street has suddenly closed their doors.
While there wasn't a social media post from the restaurant chain, they are now listed as permanently closed on Google.
Thunder Bay Grille also has locations in Rockford and Pewaukee. Davenport's location is no longer an active page on their website. Similarly, on Thunder Bay Grille's Facebook page, the latest events for the other 2 restaurants were created. Events for the Davenport restaurant were not.
A link in a popular QCA Facebook group featured an email from the restaurant chain's management confirming that Thunder Bay Grille Davenport closed as of today, 5/14.
A statement to KWQC from Thunder Bay's parent company's Director of Marketing, Lesley Uehran said:
Heart of America Group has announced the closure of Thunder Bay Grille in Davenport as part of a reimagination of the space. Plans for a new concept at the location are being evaluated. Stay tuned for updates.
Last year, the Davenport Thunder Bay Grille dealt with a few fires. In one last March, the restaurant sustained minor damage. In August, a limo bus caught fire at Thunder Bay.
Thunder Bay isn't the only Davenport restaurant to close so far this year. Cavort QC and The Garrison, both downtown Davenport watering holes, closed. Similar to Thunder Bay, The Garrison closed suddenly, with just a note on the door.
The sudden closings seem to be happening a lot lately. Last year, Catfish Charlie's in Moline closed without warning. Combine Grill and some Illinois KFC restaurants suddenly closed in 2023. And of course Bettendorf's seemingly cursed corner on 53rd sees a rotating door of restaurants.
As of now, there's no word yet on anything that might move into Thunder Bay Grille's former building.
