Moline Man Accused of Stealing Nearly $2,000 from Bettendorf Pizza Ranch
A 32-year-old Moline man is facing a felony theft charge after authorities say he stole nearly $2,000 from Pizza Ranch in Bettendorf. Court records show Vanice Heath Jr. was arrested Tuesday and charged with second-degree theft.
Employee Accused of Pocketing Cash
According to an arrest affidavit, Heath allegedly pocketed cash from customers instead of ringing up their orders. Investigators say he then gave the customers receipts for free pizzas, making it appear as though the transactions had been processed correctly.
Theft Spanned Over Two Weeks
Documents state the incidents occurred several times between June 29 and July 13, 2025. During that time, Heath is accused of taking a total of $1,906.47 from the business.
The Pizza Ranch location reportedly had surveillance video showing each transaction where money was not recorded in the system. The footage was later turned over to police as part of the investigation.
Arrest and Upcoming Court Hearing
Heath was arrested on a warrant and booked into the Scott County Jail, where he was being held Tuesday on a $1,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Scott County Court for a preliminary hearing on August 29.
If convicted, Heath could face significant penalties under Iowa law for second-degree theft, a felony offense.
