My Brutally Honest Ranking of 2024’s Biggest Movies

2024 has been an incredible year for movies. By the end of the year, the cinema market is expected to earn $79.22 billion in revenue, according to a report from Statista. 

I'm not going to lie, I definitely contributed a major chunk of money to that.

One of my favorite things to do is to drop by my local movie theater on a random day of the week when I've got nothing to do, and see a movie.

I try to go on days where they offer a good deal. For example, Marcus Theaters offers $6 movie tickets to rewards club members on Tuesdays. As a single lady on a budget, I can't say no to a good deal!

Some great movies came out this year, but most of them had one thing in common; they all were guaranteed box office successes.

What exactly do you mean by this?

All of the top ten grossing films annually were connected to some sort of existing IP or intellectual property.

Eight out of ten of these box office hits were sequels, two were super hero movies, and four were animated films.

The ten highest grossing movies globally of 2024 according to Box Office Mojo are:

2. Deadpool & Wolverine
3. Despicable Me 4
4. Moana 2
5. Dune: Part Two
6. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire
7. Kung Fu Panda 4
8. Wicked
9. Venom: The Last Dance
10. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

I saw nearly half of the movies on this list this past year. Since I spent so much time sitting in a movie theater this year, I'd thought I'd give you some of my honest opinions about some of the biggest movies of the year.

Just a reminder, these are all opinions, and if you loved a movie that I didn't care for that is totally okay! My opinions aren't fact and neither are yours.
