Changes are coming to a locally owned grocery store.

News came out earlier this summer that a Waterloo business that had become a beacon of hope to the Walnut neighborhood would be put on pause.

All In Grocers Announces Brief Hiatus

All In Grocers was a work in progress for several years. Located in the Walnut neighborhood in Waterloo, the grocery store opened its doors in October of 2023.

"As many of you know, we developed All In Grocers in 2023 to fill a need within our city that could help with continued investment from other real estate developers," the owner said.

Under a year later the business was put on pause.

In a social media post from the business's Facebook page, the owner of All In, Rodney A. Anderson said that some mistakes were made when the grocer initially opened.

"This is the first store that we've ever built, and millions of dollars invested in this community. But in our joy and celebration of finally getting a store I made mistakes,"
Anderson said.

Those mistakes included getting a wholesaler that was charging "too much for cost of goods" and the layout of products in the store.

"If these mistakes are not corrected All In Grocers development will also be leaving our community like the rest of the chain stores that left."

 All In Grocers Changing Hands

In a statement on social media the owner of All In, Rodney Anderson announced that he would be selling the store. He confirms that they did not know that this when he announced the brief hiatus last month.

"This was a decision we accepted after hearing the vision and the commitment for this city for an organization with a reputation for success."

There is no word on what organization has agreed to purchase the grocery store. However, the owner did confirm that the news of the official new ownership group will be announced in the very near future.

Anderson confirmed that the staff at All In grocers will still have their jobs and benefits when new ownership takes over.

The grocery store will remain closed until further notice. There is no word on why exactly All In grocers was sold.
