There's no off-season for fishing in Iowa. Spring, summer, and nice days in the fall, you can head to an area river, lake, or stream and give 'er the old college try. And, ice fishing is a good way to spend a cold winter day.

But when it comes to catching a real whopper. A record breaker, there are plenty of records that have been set here in Iowa and, in case you aren't familiar, the International Game Fish Association, or IGFA, can certify a record-breaking fish and maybe add YOU to this list one day! Oh, and it's only $40.

Until that day comes, we're going to examine the fine photo-worthy fish caught by other anglers in Iowa.

Record Breaking Catches

Anglers worldwide compete in fishing derbies to land the biggest catch, but record-breaking fish can be weighed anytime on IGFA-certified scales at various tackle shops or marinas and compared to the IGFA's online records database.
