I Bet You Don’t Know This Special Stat About Caitlin Clark’s Assists
Caitlin Clark scored 31 points last Friday (August 30), as she helped lead the Indiana Fever to victory over Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky. Caitlin Clark's performance in last week's matchup made WNBA history for multiple reasons.
This was her career high for points in a game, which I'm sure she'll pass at some point in her career, and this was also the first 30+ point, 12 assist, and 5 three-pointers made game, in WNBA history. She also added 4 rebounds by the end of the night.
Out of all of the incredible women basketball players who've played in the WNBA, never has a player finished with a score sheet that looked like Caitlin's, according to News Week.
These Assist Numbers Are Insane
Clark leads the league in double-doubles for a WNBA guard this year and she also holds the top 5 scoring games from a rookie this year. To make this even more incredible...Caitlin CURRENTLY has more career assists than 80% of every player in WNBA HISTORY, according to News Week. She hasn't even completed 1 WNBA season yet!
There's only one word that comes to mind when realizing what Caitlin is accomplishing in her first year in the WNBA. Incredible. Unless some type of catastrophic injury occurs, Caitlin is going to shatter tons of WNBA career records.
After Friday's matchup, Caitlin talked to AP News about the successful run the Indiana Fever have been on since returning from the Olympic break.
"I think we just understand each other a lot better. Having the chemistry and having the time to play with one another you just build confidence. I think you’re seeing that. ... I’m proud of this group. We’re been sharing the ball, we’re taking good shots and that’s helping our transition game and it helps us on defense, too."
NBA Legend Gives Caitlin 2 Shout Outs
Lebron James is one of the greatest NBA stars of all time. A lot of NBA fans would place him right up there next to Michael Jordan as being the best basketball player to ever play the game. When he tweets something...it gets noticed.
After Friday's matchup, Lebron James tweeted "Caitlin Clark!!!!! HI HATERS" and he also retweeted this post from the NBA.
Say what you want about Lebron James and is he the greatest or is he overrated. Regardless of how you feel about him as a player, I think he gained a lot of fans from Iowa after showing this much love to Iowa's favorite basketball player.
The question isn't if Caitlin will achieve another WNBA first. The question is WHEN will Caitlin achieve her next WNBA first.
