Caitlin Clark is excited to take a break from basketball.

It's tough to blame her for not wanting to pick up a basketball for a while with the schedule she's been on since her final year playing for the Iowa Hawkeyes. Almost all of her focus has been on playing basketball at a high level since September of 2023.

Caitlin's Last 10 Months

Caitlin helped lead the Iowa women's basketball team to back-to-back championship games, which means she played the most games you can in women's college basketball last season, twice. Caitlin's final Iowa Hawkeye season ended in April of 2024, and after that, she jumped right into the WNBA draft process.

Even though she was always going to be the 1st overall pick, she was still working out for teams and staying in shape for the beginning of her WNBA career. The Indiana Fever began their season in May of 2024, which was only 1 month after Caitlin's collegiate career ended.

For the past 10 months, basketball has been Caitlin's life. Now that the WNBA All-Star weekend has passed, she's ready for a break. At the end of her All-Star post-game interview, Caitlin told the reporters to "have a nice month."

Here is the entire post-game interview and you can tell she was excited to get off the press conference podium and begin her vacation.

With the Summer Olympic games beginning in Paris, Caitlin will enjoy about 1 month off from the game of basketball. There were no mentions of any vacation plans but she did seem eager for her vacation to begin.

According to the IndyStar, Caitlin laughed when asked about her break.

"I honestly can't wait to not touch a basketball for a while. I've shot too many times in the past year. I think it's hard as a professional athlete at times, like people do always realize I feel like an individual just like all of you. I'm just the same human. I go about my same daily life, I do all the things that you do, I just play basketball on top of that ."

Her coach, Christie Sides, also mentioned she was happy Caitlin would get a bit of a breather from basketball.

"I'm loving that she's going to get a breather and get some rest, just for our push after this Olympic break. I think it's great for her, she's just been going so hard for quite some time now, and this is just going to help her so much just to kind of decompress."

While Caitlin does have a dream job, there's no doubt she's been extremely busy both mentally and physically for the past year. Not only was she the face of college basketball, she's had to transition that into being the most popular player in the WNBA.

We may never know if deep down she was disappointed in not being asked to join the Olympic team because she's said all of the right things since the news came out she wasn't going to be on the team, but I have a feeling that in the long run, she'll be glad for some time off. She won't have to play or answer questions from reporters for a month.

No matter what your job is, even professional athletes need time to recharge their batteries. I wonder if Caitlin will be making any appearances in Iowa during her time off?!
