What I experienced earlier this week is completely unacceptable. One of your jobs as a responsible dog owner is cleaning up after them.

Whether they are at a park, hanging out in someone's yard, or you're a guest at someone's house, they are your responsibility 100% of the time. If your dog breaks something, chews something a part, or uses the bathroom, its your responsibility to solve/repair/clean the mess. No ifs ands or butts about it.

I will say that sometimes things happen and you can't always clean up after your dog right away. I've left the house to bring my dog for a walk and forgot to bring a poop bag with me once. I was terrified after realizing this when we were 5 blocks away. Thankfully, I didn't have to worry about it and we made it home just fine. I get it. Things happen that we don't expect or don't prepare for. I do understand that.

What happened to me earlier this week has got to be one of the most lazy things I've ever seen in my entire life and there is absolutely zero excuse for this.

Ummm Ma'm? Did You Forget Something?

I take my dog to dog park on a daily basis. We like to go in the early parts of the afternoon on days when it's not too hot. There's a track for people to walk around while their dog enjoys their time running and sniffing every blade of grass they can. At least that's what my dog does...This seems to be a great way to tire my dog out for the day and its become part of our normal routine.

At the time of day we go, there's usually no one else there. Occasionally we'll see another dog playing but 90% of the time, it's just us. I tend to prefer when no one is there because I can go for my walk/run and I don't have to worry about a bunch of other dogs getting along with my dog or my dog being a jerk to someone else's dog at the park. If someone else shows up, I'll stop walking or running and find a bench to relax on so I can pay attention to what my dog is doing.

Earlier this week, when Winona (my dog) and I were leaving the dog park, I stepped in dog poop that was right outside of the gate to get into the park. While I was annoyed at having to clean off my shoe, this is what absolutely infuriates me.

Do you notice what is right next to the gate to get into the dog park?

I'm not sure if I'm having eyesight issues but from what I can see, there are multiple rolls of FREE dog poop bags and multiple garbage cans at the park! The park COULD NOT MAKE IT EASIER to help you clean up after your dog and keep the park clean for other pets and humans.

There's absolutely zero excuse for not picking up the dog poop right outside of this gate. There's no way someone can say "I'm sorry, I forgot a bag" when there's multiple posts with these bags attached to them. It's not the parks fault or the dogs fault the poop is there. It was the lady who didn't clean up after her pet.

How can someone be this lazy? After stepping in the dog poop, I had my dog sit and stay while I walked back into the park, past the woman who's dog used the bathroom, grabbed a bag, and cleaned it up for her. The worst part was this was a grown woman. It wasn't a young person or a kid, she was 45+ years old! She knows better than to just let her dog poop somewhere and leave it but it's even worse when there's bags right in front of her.

I'm being dead serious when I say it took me all of 12 seconds to complete this task. If you're too lazy to take the 12-15 seconds it takes to clean up after your dog when you're at a public park, maybe you should just get a cat. It's not just dog parks that I've seen people not cleaning up after their dog either.

Just about every time I walk my dog somewhere, we find dog poop that's been left behind, which is something I will never understand. SOME dog owners need to learn common courtesy and be respectful to other people who are using the park. No one wants to walk past, step in, look at, or smell dog poop when they're enjoying their time at any park.

I have a dog and I can understand why people who don't own dogs hate when someone brings their dog everywhere they go. There are way to many people who just let their dog crap anywhere and don't do anything about it.

I was annoyed at stepping in this mess but I got my shoe cleaned off fairly quickly. I was more irritated that someone could be this lazy.
