Winter is here, Iowa and we're really starting to feel it.

Our weather partners at KCRG-TV are confirming some important details about the weather for the next few days.

It's going to be cold, very cold.

Okay, you don't need a meteorologist to tell you that cold temperatures are expected in Iowa during the month of January. It's just par for the course.

On Monday morning (January 13th), frigid temperatures greeted Eastern Iowans as they began to tackle the week. Our weather partners confirmed that while we might see some snow showers on Monday night, things will start to warm up mid week.

Those snow showers are possible along I-80 overnight. Luckily, the forecast predicts that it will be a very small or trace amount.

Don't Forget These 10 Items In Your Car This Winter

Jumper Cables

I've been in a few instances where I had to give a jump to someone or reach out and hope someone could give me a power jump. No matter the season, having these handy could be a life saver.

Ice Scraper

You can't drive in winter weather if you can't see where you're going, right?

Flashlight

I'm of the generation where my phone is my flashlight. However, if my phone dies, I know for certain I've got a physical flashlight on hand in my car.

Water

You might not think about this, but staying hydrated when it's cold is important.

According to reports, your body loses fluids when you breathe. If you're dehydrated, blood flow to your skin can be reduced which can lead to an increased risk of frostbite in colder weather.

Snacks

It never hurts to have snacks on hand to keep your energy up.

Heated blanket

Apparently you can get one that plugs into a 12-volt charger!

Hand/Body Warmers

Keeping the blood circulating and keeping your body warm will reduce the risk of frostbite.

Tow Straps

Personally, I don't have these but I'm absolutely going to look into getting tow straps. If you are stuck somewhere due to ice or snow, these could be a life saver in getting both you and your car to safety.

Kitty Litter

I have two cats, so I usually try to keep one bag of kitty litter that I haven't used just yet in my car during the winter. This kitty litter can act like rock salt and help you or your vehicle gain some traction.

Phone Charger

Having a car phone charger can make a world of difference if you get stuck somewhere. You can call for help, use your flashlight, or use the GPS to figure out where you are if you get lost.

Roseanne Barr Abandoned Iowa Mansion in Eldon, IA

I fell into a rabbit hole when I found out that Roseanne Barr almost had a mansion in Iowa. After seeing the current state of the property on Facebook, I was amazed that such an extravagant project could be so quickly overtaken by nature. Only two hours away from Waterloo, this abandoned field could have hosted some of the coolest and elite Hollywood parties in the Midwest. The current photos were taken by Gable Fry on a recent trip he took.
