What Is Wawa? A Cult-Favorite Convenience Store
If you've never heard of Wawa, it's something you need to put on your radar.
Wawa is a chain of convenience stores/gas stations that originated in Pennsylvania. This franchise is incredibly popular on the East Coast, specifically in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Maryland.
How Many Wawa Locations Are There?
There are 1,150 Wawa locations in the United States, spread out across ten states. The majority of these stores are in Florida, according to Scrape Hero.
The company has a bit of a cult following in the Philly area and surrounding regions.
If you are ever on the East Coast and you're trying to figure out what you should pick up at Wawa, you have to go for one of their hoagies (sandwiches) or coffee.
Now, the Midwest will be able to have a taste of the Pennsylvania phenomenon.
In a report from NACS, Wawa will be expanding in the Midwest this April.
On April 16th, this popular franchise will be opening up a location north of Cincinnati, Ohio. Wawa officials confirmed in the report that this is “the first of 8 to 10 Wawa stores slated to open in Ohio by year’s end.”
“We are excited to fly into Ohio and bring our unique combination of fresh food and beverage, convenience and service to this state for the very first time. This historic milestone kicks off our ongoing growth and expansion in Ohio as we continue to build new stores and create new jobs,” said Brian Schaller, president of Wawa in a statement.
Over the course of the next few years, Wawa officials are hoping to open upwards of sixty locations in the state of Ohio.
There is no word on whether or not the popular convenience store will expand even further into the Midwest.
