At the time of writing this, McDonald’s has over 41,000 restaurants. This list comes from Cheapism and, of course, from customers and workers who are willing to give their feedback..

According to employees and online chatter, these five things earn their wallflower status more from lived experience than from any official sales sheet.

Now let’s get into the "worst" menu items. I actually agree with one of these — it seriously doesn’t even make sense. I swear, some people must be making this stuff up. Let me know what you think!

Least Popular Items at Iowa McDonald's

These first three make sense to me:

- Hot Tea - I didn't even know this was an item.

Fruit & Maple Oatmeal - Again... what is this item?!

McCafé Hot Chocolate - I knew this one was real, but again I personally have never gotten it.

Now these two make no sense to me.

Filet-O-Fish - This one I swear people would eat all the time! Cheapism claims it's on the list.

Outside of Lent and those groups, it doesn't pack the same punch. Only about 75 million are sold per year — roughly 1.8 million a day — which sounds like a lot until you realize it's just a fraction of the Big Mac's numbers.

I guess that makes sense.

Hotcakes - Isn't there a saying about something selling like hotcakes? Then again, the explanation does make sense.

They’ve been on McDonald's breakfast menu for decades, but they’ve never been a big draw. Three pancakes, a pat of butter, and syrup sound fine on paper — until you realize they’re pre-made, reheated, and often described by customers as “rubbery.
